In life we need others. Regardless of the magnitude of your challenges, having someone by your side is important. Seeing a somatic psychotherapist was a mandatory requirement throughout my education. It was an invaluable experience, both professionally and personally. To me, counselling is a gentle reminder to embrace who we are. It ignites an ability to find our inner resources, even in our most difficult moments.
My passion to understand what promotes emotional wellbeing and become a psychotherapist started in my teens. I studied psychology at University, explored life coaching, career coaching, NLP, spirituality, vipassana meditation, mindfulness, breathing, the list goes on. A decade into a corporate career on three different continents, it was time for a change.
In 2009 I found a high quality, Australian college to study Somatic Psychotherapy in Sydney. This form of counselling and therapy brings together interpersonal and relational elements from various theoretical approaches. It is a gentle trauma informed therapy, where change is guided by mind, brain and relationships. This is different from traditional cognitive focused counselling techniques. I believe human beings are not meant to go through life alone. Unfortunately, our society that is in one sense more connected than ever, is also allowing for more loneliness than ever. If you feel that some additional support could help you towards a bit more strength and ability to enjoy relationships and life as it currently is, I would love to hear from you.
